Instalacija Generic Kernela - Output?

Ćaos.

Kao što rekoh, imam 14.1. Odlučio sam da instaliram generic kernel, kako mi slackware docs vele, jer kao ide onda brže sve, međutim meni je boot trajao isto, ako ne i duže. Pa me zanima, da li imam pravi output u lilo.conf:

...ili moram da učinim još nešto?

Pogledaj i ovaj post i dva posta iznad, tu je praktično ceo postupak ali radi oprezno i ako nisi siguran postavi pitanje. Pitaj na vreme da izbegnemo moguće probleme :)
Gledaj da u LILO imaš dva kernela da biraš, onaj koji trenutno koristiš i još jedan (generic).

Jesi li pokrenuo LILO nakon izmene lilo.conf? Samo otkucaj:

Da bi LILO primenio podešavanja iz lilo.conf (ne primenjuju se automatski pri izmeni).

Što se tiče brzine. Nisam siguran da će prelazak na generic značajno smanjiti vreme boota. Ubrzanje će biti primetno, ali i dalje neće biti baš brzinski šampion. :) Zavisi šta konkretno očekuješ.

Pa ono, nije primetno uopšte, baš u tome je stvar, a ako sam pokrenuo isti kernel, (da nisam samo dva entryja napravio za huge kernel slučajno :D ) džabe sam krečio.
Posle onog sam dao lilo -v .
Odabrao sam ovaj, koji bi trebalo da je generic a označio sam ga kao Slackware.

Pitanje:

da ne moram ja posebno da instaliram generic kernel prvo, ili je isti vec instaliran, samo ga sa gore opisanim koracima podesim?

Već je u sistemu, samo treba da goreopisanim koracima podesiš. Davno sam bio na generic kernelu ali se nešto ne sećam da mi je bio brži, možda i zbog konfiguracije...
Evo i sad ne korisim generic kernel a i nemam nameru da se zezam oko toga jer neću dobiti neko poboljšanje u smislu brzine. I ovako radi mnogo brzo i to pod KDE. Ako je mašina dovoljno jaka onda nema potrebe da se igraš sa kernelom. Postoje druge stvari i procedure koje mogu da se podešavaju ali dok se bolje ne upoznaš sa sistemom, nema potrebe da diraš bilo šta.

Bolje da imaš stabilan sistem nego brz boot :)

Uzimajući u obzir sve navedeno, slažem se, stereo.

Mašina ima dual core i 4gb rama, dovoljno :) A i nigde mi nije kde lepše i brže radio.

U svakom slučaju hvala ti na odgovoru i utraćenom vremenu na ovu budalu :)
