Podesavanje kablovskog interneta pod Linux-om

Na racunaru imam instaliran Windows i Linux. Kablovski internet mi radi pod Windows-om, ali ne i pod Linuxom. Sta da radim?
Imajte u vidu da sam pocetnik.
Modem je Cisco i prikacen je na racunar preko Ethernet porta.
Nisam sigurna koju verziju Slackware-a imam, instalirala sam ga odavno. Uglavnom kad se logujem pise: "Welcome to linux 2.6.29.6- smp" sta god to znacilo

Pre svega dobrodošla na forum.
Čini mi se da ti je Slackware verzija 13.37. a što se tiče sređivanja interneta pod Slackom ima par uputstava na forumu.

Sad gledam, na oba linka je praktično ista stvar samo drugačije napisano. E sad, ako to nije pomoglo javi kakav se problem dalje javlja pa da rešimo. I javi koje grafičko okruženje koristiš.
Možda nam zatrebaju sledeće informacije pa ako možeš da nam dostaviš

Ako je priključen na ethernet port trebalo bi da radi. Osim ako je problem u ethernet adapteru (mrežnoj karti) i mogućnosti da ga 2.6.26.9 verzija Linuks jezgra ne podržava. Ovo može biti slučaj kad su u pitanju neki gigabitni ethernet adapteri (mrežne karte) za koje tada još uvek nije postojala podrška u samom jezgru. Ako je to zaista slučaj, za nekoga manje iskusnijeg bi jednostavnije bilo instalirati noviju verziju Slackwarea.
Elem, ukoliko kolegin odgovor deluje malo pretehnički i komplikovan, može se i pojednostaviti. Ali svakako je poželjno da odgovoriš kao bismo videli kako to uraditi na najbolji način.
Instalacija nove verzije nije jedino rešenje, ali za neiskusnije je možda najbolje. Druga rešenja kao što je ažuriranje jezgra ili instalacija drajvera mogu zahtevati veće tehničko angažovanje.
Ukratko: verovatno nije u pitanju modem već mrežna karta. Verovatno nedostatak drajvera. Bez dodatnih informacija je teško reći da li je to i zaista slučaj.
Elem, ukoliko kolegin odgovor deluje malo pretehnički i komplikovan, može se i pojednostaviti. Ali svakako je poželjno da odgovoriš kao bismo videli kako to uraditi na najbolji način.

Otvori terminal i probaj sledeće:
1. Otvori terminal (Konsole) zatim otkucaj:
Dobićeš upit da ukucaš administratorsku lozinku. Ako je se ne sećaš, javi pa da vidimo da je nekako povratimo.
2. Zatim otkucaj sledeće:
3. Možeš ili iskopirati izlaz u tekstualnu datoteku ili napraviti screenshot pomoću alata kscreenshot. Zatim je potrebno da ih okačiš uz odgovor. Pošto pretpostavljam da pristupaš netu iz Windowsa, dobar je predlog da ovaj tekst ili sliku prebaciš na particiju na kojoj se nalazi Windows ili na USB stick.
Takođe možeš usput proveriti i verziju Slackwarea. Otvori terminal i otkucaj (nije potreban root):

Ja ustvari imam samo root nalog, pa mislim da ovo nece dati nikakav rezultat

Izgleda da je uspešno uspostavljena veza sa internetom. 8.8.8.8 je Googleov DNS server i ako je dostupan komandi ping onda znači da OS ima pristup spoljnjem internetu. Jesi li slučajno probala da se uključiš na internet posle toga?root@darkstar:~# ping 8.8.8.8

I zaista bi ovo išlo u nedogled da ga nisi zaustavila. Možeš i odrediti broj upita ako dodaš -c n:

Preporučio bih da instaliraš noviju verziju pošto Slackware 13.0 više nije zvanično podržan. Novije verzije uključuju i noviji softver, kao i neke nove opcije za održavanje sistema, tako da je i to jedan od razloga za upgrade (u stvari instalaciju nove verzije od nule).
Ako se odlučiš da zadržiš 13.0, količina novijeg softvera će biti ograničena i sistem neće više dobijati siguronosna ažuriranja.

Zaboravio sam da kažem da se podešavanje iz prethodne poruke gubi nakon restarta sistema, pa ga je potrebno ponoviti (dhcpcd...). Ako internet radi nakon toga, podesićemo sistem da to odradi automatski. Tj, ukoliko ne odlučiš da ažuriraš na noviji Slack.
